What does it mean to offer comfort when cure is no longer possible?
In the September 2025 issue of Simile—the quarterly publication of the Faculty of Homeopathy—Denise Straiges and Dr. Molly Punzo offer a powerful meditation on that very question. Their article, Comfort Care: Homeopathy for Serious Illness and End of Life, explores how the HHN Comfort Care program brings gentleness, dignity, and connection to some of life’s most profound moments.
“From our first cry to our final breath, homeopathy can bring peace, ease, and dignity.”
At its core, Comfort Care is about presence. It’s about meeting people and families where they are—with skilled homeopathic care that is non-invasive, individualized, and deeply human. Rather than focusing on cure, this model centers on relief, rest, and reverence in the final stage of life.
The program is the first of its kind: a telehealth-based model of palliative and end-of-life homeopathic care, supported by trained practitioners, doulas, caregivers, and medical advisors. And thanks to research partnerships through the Institute for the Advancement of Homeopathy, every case contributes to a growing body of knowledge that aims to bring homeopathy into hospice, faith, and integrative settings.
The article also shares the story behind Comfort Care’s origins—including the moving role of Lori Stevens, whose experience in her final days became the seed for what is now a fully realized national initiative.
